ELECTRAS by Reut Shemesh is wild, defiant and uncompromising, exploring the figure of the mother – a mixture of dragon, cyborg and provider, and often weary. It explores the tension between everything: bringing a child into a brutal world, the desire to find meaning through motherhood, the emotional burden of seeing one’s own identities reflected in the child, and the pressure of gender-specific expectations.
ELECTRAS is a dance piece about the mother as a body full of contradictions: exhausted yet unstoppable, fragile yet unyielding.
