The Sea is a black-and-white feature film directed by Douglas Rosenberg, shot entirely on the Baltic Sea. Inspired by the striking landscapes of Ingmar Bergman’s island of Fårö, the film explores aging and the intimate relationships between men in their later years. Featuring a cast drawn largely from untrained local performers on Fårö, The Sea reflects on companionship and on how life’s experiences leave their marks on our bodies – expressed through movement and the passage of time.
